IoT devices generate huge amounts of data, which can be information about the temperature of an engine or whether a door is open or closed, or information read from a smart meter. All this IoT data must be collected, stored and analyzed. One way for companies to get the most out of this data is to feed that data into the artificial intelligence (AI) systems that will take that IoT data and use it to make predictions.
Google, for example, blamed an AI for its data center cooling system. Artificial intelligence uses data from thousands of IoT sensors that feed into deep neural networks and predict how different choices will affect future energy consumption. Google has been able to make its data centers more efficient using machine learning and AI, and said the same technology could be used in other industrial environments.
